Christen Pears

I have been interested in fitness since captaining my school netball team at the age of 11. After studying history at Oxford University, I worked as a journalist in the UK and Bermuda, before taking up a full-time career as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor in 2008.

Between 2008 to 2013 I ran my own personal training and Pilates business in Fremantle, Western Australia and during that time wrote a regular fitness column for The Australian newspaper.

I am a Master Trainer with a Diploma in Personal Training from the European Institute of Fitness. In Australia I gained a Level IV Certificate in Pilates matwork with art of motion. This is the equivalent of the UK’s national standard Level 3 qualification.

Through continued professional development I have explored a wide range of interests including nutrition, suspension training and exercise for the over 50s and those with chronic disease.

During my time in Australia I trained as a leader for the Heart Foundation’s Heartmoves programme. This qualification has been recognised by Register of Exercise Professionals in the UK and I am registered for Level 3 Exercise Referral and Level 4 Cardiac Disease. I also have a current first aid certificate.
